Want to earn the highest score possible on the AP World History test? Need to write a research paper but don't know how? Panicking over English literature and those five-paragraph essays? Or are you a high school student or professional who wants to study Arabic from a native English speaker? Or a college student who needs help with Arabic pronunciation from someone who's made it through that challenge? Looking for a tutor who knows how to establish clear goals and make every minute count? I'm a talented, knowledgeable and experienced teacher who puts in 100% when I tutor, just as I did in the classroom. The quick run-down on my qualifications: I'm a writer, historian and educator who earned a master's degree in history from Oxford University in 2000. I have four years' experience teaching humanities, world religions and history at elite private secondary schools in New England and Washington, DC. Every summer, I serve as a master teacher in New Hampshire's Advanced Studies Program. by wyzant.com

I am passionate about music, whether it's piano performance or composition, music theory or aural training, or an in depth look at its history. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Stetson University and I am working on my Master of Music in the same at George Mason University right now. I offer assistance with music theory ranging from the basics of reading music and learning functional harmonies to form and fugue analysis to twelve-tone and set theory, as well as Schenkerian and linear analysis. Regarding sight singing and dictation, I've undergone coursework covering material from the basics to sight singing and dictating complex 20th century material, ranging from Debussy to Berg and Stravinsky, for example. by wyzant.com

Hi there! My name is Umman and I have been tutoring students for the past ten years. I have experience in the following subjects: chemistry, physics, economics, and mathematics, which includes algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics. I also have tutored SAT standardized test in reading, math, and writing. My style is first to assess a students strength and weakness in a particular subject and evaluate his/her study skills. I will determine the students learning style, whether it is visual, auditory, reading, kinesthetics, memory or other methods. I proceed in tutoring a student based on his/her strength and help overcome the student's weakness using methods that work well for him or her. Sometimes students struggle comprehending word problems for example, or learning to follow logical steps. I motivate students to overcome learning a new subject by applying an approach to learning and studying that is the most effective. by wyzant.com

I am a Chinese grad school student, majoring in curriculum and instruction (ESL) in George Mason University. During the past year, I learned some theories and techniques related to second language acquisition, which will help me in my future teaching. In addition, I completed teaching Chinese as a second language course in China. As for tutoring experience, I tutored some middle school students English and Math when I was in China. I also taught Chinese to my American friends. Being a tutor is a rewarding experience for me because I like to see them making progress day by day. I bring a fairly laid back atmosphere with a thorough and eclectic curriculum to my lessons. I formulate lesson plans based on the individual needs and desires of a student, from the casual hobbyist to the serious student of music. I do not approach education with a "one size fits all" mindset. I do draw on the Dalcroze, Orff, and Suzuki methods of music education, but I stick to no specific method dogmatically, rather in the tradition of Leschetizky. You can expect to receive a strong foundation in rhythm, note reading, and aural skills within about three months. Besides these skills, I also teach practice & memorization techniques, sight reading & transposing, sight singing, conducting, ensemble playing & accompanying, improvisation, composition, song writing, music theory, and other facets of music. I consider it my responsibility to supply you with the knowledge and skills you need to achieve all of your musical goals during our time together and later on down the road. by TeachStreet
